Decisions being made in Frankfort during the current legislative session promise to shape the lives of Kentucky clinical social workers and their clients for years to come. Voting rights for felons, reproductive rights for women, and state budget priorities are among the issues under consideration this year. The KSCSW Board and the Kentucky Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers invite you to advocate for yourself, your colleagues and your clients by joining us in Frankfort for Lobby Day 2018 on Thursday, March 8.

KSCSW is sponsoring a series of events leading up to and on Lobby Day. It all starts on Wednesday, February 22, with our first-ever Legislative Advocacy Letter Writing Party, which will take place at PIVOT Brewing, in Lexington, from 6 to 8 PM. Our Lobby Day Kickoff activities on Wednesday, March 7, will include a free pizza lunch and a Social Work Ethics Seminar, which fulfills the Ethics requirement for Kentucky state licensing. Lunch is free to those who register in advance, and the Ethics Seminar costs $40 for KSCSW and NASW members, $60 for non-members. Please note that the lunch and the Ethics Seminar require separate registrations. Both will take place at the Junior Achievement offices in Lexington. Activities on Lobby Day itself will begin at 9:30 AM at the State Capitol in Frankfort, with tours of the capitol and meetings with legislators planned throughout the day.

See the schedule below for more details. We look forward to seeing you at all the Lobby Day events!

Looking forward to our first letter writing party, even more because we are compelled to write to our national representatives about DACA this week, we have so many issues at the state level with budget cuts, protections for children at school and at home, sex education, kinship care, child marriage and more. Please email us at [email protected] with questions. Bring your laptop, phone or we will have pen and paper. See you there!
