She enjoys spending time gardening, raising backyard chickens, learning how to play the banjo, playing fetch with her black lab, Sadie, camping, and hosting family gatherings. She encourages others to make self-care a priority and to enjoy the little things we can do daily to take care of ourselves. Andi wants to continue to advocate for changing or enhancing organizational self-care to promote healthy work environments and reduce rates of burnout and attrition for social workers.

Chris Whitsell, LCSW - Governance Committee Chair
I am 50 years old. I have three children; my oldest Taylor is 21 and is a senior at Harvard University...my middle is Kaylee and she is 18 and is graduating from Boyle Co HS and headed to U of Louisville this fall to major in nursing and my youngest is Kyle and he is 12 and attends Boyle Middle School. I have been married for 25 years to Christy who just retired as a Director in the New Vista Comp Care system. She holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and will be joining my practice. I enjoy anything outdoors, especially running. I have registered for my first Ultramarathon in November...a 50 miler. I retired from Community Mental Health in August of 2019 where I was the Director of Child and Family Services w/ The Adanta Group in Somerset, KY for two years. Before that I spent 27 years w/ Bluegrass.org (now known as New Vista), the last 7 years of this tenure as the Corporate Director of Child and Family services for the 17-county region. I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since July 20, 2001 and hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky (`96 grad). Currently, I own and operate Whitsell Counseling & Supervision, LLC in Danville, KY. This is a private practice that I started 4 years ago. I provide individual and family therapy services, focusing in particular on children/adolescents and young adults. I emphasize a person-centered approach to services that prioritizes relationship and therapeutic alliance. I tend to be eclectic but am most comfortable with a cognitive-behavioral approach as well extremely sensitive to being trauma-informed. I also provide clinical supervision for CSW's both individually and via group (have a group that meets 1x month on Saturdays). I currently provide services in office space I sublease on 416 S 4th Street Danville, KY, but very recently leased space at 905 Hustonville Rd Suite 8 Danville, KY where my wife will join my practice to also provide counseling services. I also contract with Danville Independent School System to provide therapy, training and consultation services to students and staff. I also sit on the Board of Directors w/ Key Assets Kentucky. My wife and I are working with consultants currently to re-vamp the practice website and unveil a marketing campaign to help respond to service needs throughout the central KY area. We provide telehealth and in-person services.

I have been a social worker for over 15 years and while the majority of my focus and work have been of a clinical nature, I am finding I hold a strong interest in mezzo and macro levels of social work. The Doctoral Social Work program I where I am a third-year student at the University of Kentucky has been instrumental in my intentional efforts at becoming more involved with organizations and activities that will push social work forward and I am working toward developing more as a leader in the field.
Networking and connecting with other Social Workers is important and serving on the Board would provide an opportunity for that connection as we work together in promoting and practicing social work values in a variety of capacities. I would like to bring my skills having a business background, strategic planning skills and utilize my DEI certification where applicable as a Board of Directors member that might complement the work the Board already does in a useful and collaborative capacity. I am a servant leader and serving on the Board would provide an opportunity to serve others, give back to the profession and keep me passionate about a field I love to work in.

Duties of the Past-President
The Past-President:
A. Shall serve in an advisory role to the Board of Directors.
B. Shall serve as chairperson of both the Governance and Nominating Committees.
Past President is responsible for elections and awards, primarily. In the spring, we hold an election and the governing committee puts together ballots and facilitates the election and orientation of new members.
In the fall, we get nominations for scholarships and awards and vote on recipients using the rubric. And during the winter there is a review of policies and procedures to ensure they stay up to date. The past president is chair of the governance committee and advises the board, overall.
And me, I love being on this board – it has given back for any and every effort I have put in! The roles I have had in the society have helped me grow as a professional and have given me opportunities at the regional and state level to build relationships and be a part of changes I would have never been able to imagine on my own. My life is better and richer for this association. We are all so fortunate to have this foundation and support for the profession and each other.
