EMDR and Dissociation Trainings Coming in May
KSCSW is happy to be hosting a pair of trainings presented by noted EMDR and trauma therapist/trainer Kathleen Martin, LCSW, starting this May. Martin will present Mastering the Treatment of Complex Trauma: Transforming Theory into Practice on May 10 and 11, and she will lead a full Basic EMDR Training program, with Part 1 meeting May 30 to June 2 and Part 2 meeting September 19 to 22. The Basic EMDR Training includes the Mastering the Treatment of Complex Trauma program at no additional price, along with five telephone-based case consultations scheduled from June 2 to October 29.
These trainings are excellent opportunities for anyone looking for a high-quality EMDR Basic Training option or a chance to develop dissociation-treatment skills. Mastering the Treatment of Complex Trauma will focus on Structural Dissociation Theory and its integration into strategies for treating Complex Trauma and developmental disorders. KSCSW provides snacks and soft drinks; members can purchase adult beverages and food if desired. Attendees are eligible to win door prizes to help them enjoy the rest of the tourney. The NCAA Watch Party is free for members but requires registration so we can plan the food order and avoid overcrowding the facility. If you plan to attend, be sure you register here.

Pat Peacock, PhD, LCSW - Education Committee Member
Pat has both a Masters and Doctorate in Social Work. She joined the Veterans Administration Medical Center in 2012. Prior to that, she had conducted research into Substance Abuse and Domestic Violence, had taught both full-time and as adjunct for Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky, and worked as a clinician for Bluegrass in the out-patient setting, as Clinical Coordinator of the Central Triage Center at Eastern State Hospital, and as Coordinator for the Crisis Stabilization Unit. At the VA Pat is the Military Sexual Trauma Coordinator and a clinical Social Worker on the PTSD Clinical Team where she provides individual and group therapy for veterans diagnosed with PTSD. Pat also has a private practice where she works with adults with substance use disorders, mood disorders, and trauma histories.
I am thrilled to be a part of this dedicated group of Social Work professionals. It is such a joy to be a part of an organization whose members are dedicated to improving the skill and knowledge base of clinical social workers, improving the public perception of the Clinical Social Work profession, and being a voice for those professionals in the Commonwealth of Kentucky legislature.
